Inclusive Cinema in Argentina: FICSor Film Festival, Spanish Cultural Centre and The Walt Disney Company

We have traveled to Buenos Aires!

Today we want to share our experience at Buenos Aires, where we participated in the International Deaf Film Festival FICSor, directed by Federico Sykes. It was a unique opportunity to get to know the Argentine Deaf Culture, its history, its struggles and its achievements. We also enjoyed a great variety of films created by and for deaf people, which showed us different realities and perspectives.

English Curriculum Vitae Miguel Ángel Font Bisier (2025)

Miguel Ángel Font Bisier is a filmmaker, researcher, writer, and educator from Valencia. With a degree in Audiovisual Communication and a PhD in Applied Languages, Literature, and Translation, his career is defined by a commitment to innovation and universal access to culture.

Font Bisier’s professional journey reflects his visionary approach to storytelling. In 2016, he introduced XMILE, the first European audiovisual experience designed to engage all five senses. His diverse audiovisual portfolio spans genres and styles, earning recognition at leading festivals and platforms such as Netflix or Prime Video.

Modeling Accessibility and Inclusivity through film-making

1 – Introduction

«In my spring class, LS 306 Spanish through Translation, I was fortunate to receive a grant from the Hub Course Enhancement fund to invite Miguel Ángel Font Bisier, the Spanish filmmaker, screenwriter, and researcher, to speak with my students about accessibility and inclusivity in film-making.

The conversation, entirely conducted in Spanish between my students and our speaker, was extremely inspiring. Miguel Ángel initiated his presentation, engaging the students from the very beginning, by asking them why there was still so much to work on to achieve inclusion in our society. He then presented the different models we live in (traditional, hybrid, or inclusive) drawing on different examples not just pertaining to the cultural world, but also to the fields that students are majoring in.
