Today is a day of great significance for Valencia. The city has been awarded two distinctions at the Access City Award 2026, an unprecedented achievement in the history of these European recognitions:
- Second prize as the most accessible city in Europe
- Special mention for accessible emergency services
Valencia thus becomes the only city that has received two awards in the same edition, a milestone that reflects sustained, serious and committed work in favour of universal accessibility.

This result places the city at the highest European level and acknowledges the collective work of public administrations, social entities and professionals who have spent years generating real improvements. From Mi Cine Inclusivo, we wish to congratulate the Valencia City Council, Cermi Comunidad Valenciana, ONCE València, FESORD CV, Federación Helix, Plena inclusión CV, Asociación ACOVA, Cocemfe Comunitat Valenciana and the wider associative network that plays a decisive role in building a fairer and more inclusive city.

Our recognition also extends to Javier Copoví, Director General for People with Disabilities at the Valencia City Council and a key figure in the municipal accessibility strategy. It has been an honour to contribute to this project through the audiovisual campaign created for the candidacy, produced according to universal design principles.
We also appreciate the commitment of Visit Valencia, Valencia Innovation Capital, and all individuals and organisations involved in the candidacy. Coordination, rigour and a continuous drive for improvement have been essential to achieve this outcome.
Access City Award
It is worth recalling that the Access City Award is granted by the European Commission and the European Disability Forum, aiming beyond the prizes themselves to advance towards a society that recognises accessibility as both a right and a shared responsibility. We congratulate the remaining award-winning and nominated cities (51 in total), as this journey is built collectively.
