We have produced the first feature film about accessibility in the audiovisual industry!

The title of the movie is «Inclusivity – Beyond Cinema«.

Synopsis

Cinema inspires, unites, and transforms… but not everyone can enjoy it.

Millions of people face barriers that exclude them from something as essential as a movie theater experience.

From Spain to Latin America, artists, experts, and people with disabilities share their experiences and perspectives to create a more accessible cinema—where technology, creativity, and inclusion become powerful tools for cultural transformation.

Through moving moments and unexpected testimonies, Inclusivity: Beyond Cinema raises an urgent question:

What if the magic of the seventh art left no one behind?

An invitation to design a more inclusive and universal cultural sector

«Inclusivity – Beyond Cinema» is a feature-length documentary that explores the impact of XMILE, Europe’s first experience of offering cinema through all five senses. Through a story revealing the highlights and shadows of audiovisual accessibility, the film underlines the need to create a more universal industry, while inspiring future generations to consider inclusivity int heir projects right from the start.

A documentary that champions the transformative power of culture and education.

Produced by Mi Cine Inclusivo.com, with the support of Valencia City Council

«Inclusivity – Beyond Cinema» presents a mosaic of intimate interviews, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and a number of testimonies from people with disabilities. By turns emotional, educational and funny, its protagonists tell their experiences in a story in which every form of communication has its own space.

Since one of the film’s aims is getting new generations to understand that accessibility is a resource they should add to their projects from the outset, the documentary has a rating suitable for all audiences. Its agile pace, punctuated by unpredictable twists, guides the audience through scenarios as varied as the Spanish Senate, international universities and the Walt Disney studios in Buenos Aires.

Accessibility

Beyond traditional accessibility, this film has been designed as an inclusive experience. It has subtitles for deaf people, while both its script and sound design have been developed in such a way that no additional audio-description track is required for blind people:all the information is contained in the film itself. Furthermore, to broaden its chances for exposure, «Inclusivity –Beyond Cinema» has a dubbed, subtitled version in English.

Mission

The film offers a universal, holistic perspective on accessibility: this is a human rights issue that needs to be considered worldwide at all levels.Through scenes filmed in Spain, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, the Arab countries and the United States, it shows how culture and education can be key tools for promoting values such as equality, respect and resilience.

Participation

Inspired by the slogan “Nothing about us without us”, this documentary promotes the active participation of people with disabilities in all its production areas. Both in front of and behind the camera, work has been done with groups that do not usually have access to such opportunities, reflecting a genuine commitment to inclusivity.

During the creation of this documentary, more than 60 interviews were recorded with people and entities representative of audiovisual accessibility. Thus, a voice has been given to associations from the third sector, personalities from the political sphere, university researchers, film producers, accessibility companies and, above all, people with disabilities. This has resulted in a mosaic of opinions and proposals for improvement that enrich the experience of the documentary.

Education

With the aim of transferring the film’s values to new generations, five multi-level educational guides have been created to bring inclusion into the classroom. These guides are designed for students aged 12 and above.
