At Mi Cine Inclusivo, we are proud to present the official promotional video for Valencia’s candidacy for the Access City Award 2026, the prestigious recognition granted by the European Commission to cities that demonstrate an exemplary commitment to accessibility, sustainability, and inclusion.
This audiovisual project was born from a bold premise: What if the city of the future already existed? Valencia is not presenting itself based on aspirations, but on what it already represents today: a vibrant, participatory, and real city, where accessibility is not viewed as an add-on, but as a guaranteed right.
At Mi Cine Inclusivo, we believe that accessibility should be a natural component of any audiovisual project, whether artistic, educational, or commercial. Building on our experience in the film industry, we have adapted our Cinematic Accessibility Report to institutional and communication campaigns, with the goal of bringing universal design into tangible and realistic practices in audiovisual marketing.
In recent years, accessibility in the audiovisual industry has gained greater relevance, driving initiatives that enhance diversity and inclusion. Among the proposed solutions, the figure of the accessibility coordinator has emerged as a new department and professional role that «ensures the participation of people with disabilities behind the screen, their non-stereotypical representation on screen, and the consideration of accessibility from the production and exhibition phases, acting as a bridge between the creative team and the accessibility team.»
To learn about this proposal, and since we have been asked about it several times, we will now compare it with inclusive cinema.
Cultural accessibility is not an add-on; it is a right. And to continue promoting it, we have taken a key step: Mi Cine Inclusivo is now an official non profit association.
For nearly a decade, we have worked as a laboratory for the creation, research, and dissemination of universal culture. Along the way, we have developed a pioneering ecosystem based on accessibility from the start. But the impact we aim to create in the cultural industry requires stronger structures. That’s why becoming an association will allow us to expand our actions and strengthen our network of collaboration with professionals, organizations, and creators committed to inclusion.
